About
Jared is an associate lawyer in Siskinds’ class actions group. Based in Siskinds’ Toronto office, he has a diverse litigation practice that is focused on representing plaintiffs in the prosecution of complex securities and consumer protection class actions. Jared also has experience in insurance and financial services cases.
Jared has represented shareholders in Securities Act claims against a multinational precious metals streaming company and a large space technology company. He is a member of teams acting in securities litigation against public companies in the telecommunications and mining industries.
In his consumer protection work, Jared represents ordinary Canadians in a variety of cases including those brought against auto manufacturers for defective products. He regularly takes on pro bono work through Pro Bono Ontario and has successfully resolved cases where companies have sued new immigrants, the vulnerable, and the underprivileged. Jared also volunteers with the Osgoode Hall Investor Protection Clinic.
In the area of insurance, Jared is one of the lawyers acting on behalf of a major Canadian retailer in litigation relating to business interruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jared has worked on cases that have recovered millions of dollars for plaintiffs. He was a member of teams that obtained a $7.5 million dollar settlement in a class action against a large financial institution relating to mortgage prepayment penalties, and a $2.5 million settlement in a class action against a health technology company relating to alleged misrepresentations in its financial statements.
Prior to joining Siskinds, Jared worked as an associate at a well-respected civil litigation boutique, practicing commercial litigation and class actions. He summered with a leading litigation funder in New York City and articled with a plaintiff-side class actions boutique.
Jared obtained his J.D. from Western Law. Prior to law school, Jared obtained his B.A. (Hons) in Early Modern Studies and History, jointly conferred by the University of King’s College and Dalhousie University, graduating with First Class Honours.
