Now that Reg. 153/04 sets strict new standards for Environmental Site  Assessments of contaminated sites, it is good news that the Ministry of the Environment has finally released its guidance document for performing those ESAs. Although the new rules are only mandatory when seeking a Record of Site Condition, they set an industrywide benchmark for quality assessments.

The Guide to Completing a Phase One Environmental Site Assessments under Ontario Regulation 153/04 and Guide to Completing a Phase Two Environmental Site Assessments under Ontario Regulation 153/04 are available in the Brownfields section of the Ministry’s website and can be found here: http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/environment/en/subject/brownfields/STDPROD_087096.html (please allow time for the page to load all documents)
