As of October 28, 2012, the Ministry of the Environment now charges $1,190 to register an activity in the an Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR). See EBR Registry Number: 011-6549. This is part of a general raising of fees across the Ontario government, as recommend by the Drummond Report.

Payment must be received in full, on registration. This is a one-time charge, for all registrants. Before Oct. 28, registration was free. Subject to the Director’s discretion, a refund may be given.

To date, the following activities are entitled to registration on the EASR: automotive refinishing facilities, heating systems and standby power systems. EASR eligibility and operating requirements for these activities are currently set out in O.Reg. 245/11 under the Environmental Protection Act.
