Settlements have been approved in the Interior Molded Doors Class Actions

Canada-wide settlements have been approved to settle the Canadian class actions relating to the pricing of Interior Molded Doors sold in Canada.

The Federal Court approved the protocol for the distribution of the net settlement funds. A copy can be found here.

Settlement Class Members who purchased at least CAD$400,000 of Interior Molded Doors in Canada between March 1, 2014 and December 31, 2018 directly from a Defendant are eligible to submit a claim.

The Claim Form, along with instructions on how to complete the form, have been mailed or emailed to eligible Settlement Class members. Claim Forms must be submitted by January 27, 2026.

Federal Court Action

Settlements have been reached with the following defendants totalling approximately CDN$2.2 million:

  • Masonite International Corporation and Masonite Corporation for CDN$1,151,920; and
  • JELD-WEN, Inc., JELD-WEN Holding, Inc., and JELD-WEN of Canada, Ltd. for CDN$1,060,000.

The settlements have been approved by the Federal Court. The Federal Court also approved a method of distributing the settlement funds to eligible settlement class members.

Only settlement class members who purchased at least CAD$400,000 of interior molded doors between March 1, 2014 and December 31, 2018 directly from a Defendant are eligible to submit a claim.

The claims process is underway. Claim Forms must be submitted by January 27, 2026. The Claim Form, along with instructions on how to complete the form, have been mailed or emailed to eligible Settlement Class members.

Recognizing that not all Settlement Class Members are eligible to submit a claim, a cy-pres distribution in the amount of CAD$100,000 will be made to Habitat for Humanity.

The settlements resolve the litigation in its entirety.

Quebec Action

On June 25, 2025, the Superior Court of Quebec issued a judgment discontinuing the action against the Defendants.
