Halton Recycling Ltd. is an organic waste recycler that was the subject of a large number of odour complaints. It was charged with two counts of discharging odour into the environment which adversely affected its neighbours. The company was also charged with failing to have all recyclables baled and stored as per the conditions of its Certificate of Approval.

The company  pled guilty and was fined a total of $155,000 plus victim fine surcharges. This is another in a series of cases showing that high minimum fines for subsequent offenders have driven environment fines upwards.
