About
Jaime is an intellectual property lawyer and registered patent and trademark agent who has secured patent, trademark, and design protection for clients in Canada, the United States, and around the world. In addition to providing strategic counsel to his clients on cost-effective filing strategies for protecting their valuable intellectual property assets, Jaime’s areas of expertise include advising on the licensing and sale of IP assets, as well as intellectual property enforcement.
Jaime works with start-ups, to protect their core IP assets as they grow, and with medium and larger companies, to manage their international intellectual property portfolios. When IP disputes arise, he advises clients on approaches to resolving disputes efficiently and effectively. Jaime has appeared on behalf of clients in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Federal Court, and Federal Court of Appeal.
In addition to his legal practice, Jaime also teaches at Western Law as an Adjunct Professor, coaching Western’s team for the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot. He is frequently invited to appear as a guest speaker on intellectual property issues at Western and other institutions, covering topics ranging from introductory-level IP overviews to common IP issues for start-ups and tech companies.
