We want to send our congratulations, best wishes and some sympathy to the Hon. Peter Kent, Canada’s new Minister of the Environment.  We do agree with Jeffrey Simpson: Minister Kent has an extremely difficult job, given his leader’s staunch opposition to effective action on the major environmental issues of our day.  Perhaps it is just as well that Mr. Kent has no obvious agenda of his own to bring to the job. He is a good man and we hope he will be allowed to do more than simply stick handle the press. Here’s his mini-biohttp://pm.gc.ca/eng/bio.asp?id=18
And a news item re his comments on the oil sandshttp://www.edmontonjournal.com/business/environment+minister+calls+oilsands+ethical+source/4068082/story.html
And his 1984 report on global warming. http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/01/05/peter-kent-explains-the-greenhouse-effect/. (is this really the last thing he’s written on it?)
