Alfresh Beverages Ltd. v. Archer-Daniels Midland et. al.
A class action was commenced in which it was alleged that certain manufacturers of citric acid unlawfully conspired to fix prices and allocate markets for citric acid. Damages were sought on behalf of all people who purchased citric acid or products containing citric acid between July, 1991 and June, 1995.
A settlement was reached with all of the companies named in the lawsuit with a settlement value of approximately $8 million. The settlement has been approved by the courts in Ontario and Quebec. A settlement approval hearing is pending in Quebec.
The deadline to submit a claim was June 13, 2002
