Siskinds is delighted to congratulate its own, James Robert Caskey, Q.C., on his being named a Life Member of the Law Society of Upper Canada in recognition of his 50 years of outstanding service to Ontario’s Litigation Bar.
After graduating from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1961 and his call to the Bar in 1963, “Jamie” soon moved to London, Ontario, where he helped build Siskinds to national and international status as a full-service law firm of over 70 prominent lawyers occupying offices in Toronto and Quebec.
A robust combination of trial advocate, humanitarian and raconteur, Jamie has won the unwinnable, and settled some of the most divisive of difficult cases. Outside the court room he has led a life of giving to causes and to donating his waking hours to those in need.
A Trustee of the Middlesex Law Association from 1967-1979, and President in 1979, Jamie was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for his devotion to the London legal community. He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1979. Together with his partner and friend, Scott Ritchie, Q.C., he lectured in trial advocacy at the University of Western Ontario from 1972-1982 and was a senior instructor in civil procedure at the Bar Admissions Course from 1977-1987.
Jamie served as a Bencher from 2003-2011.
In 2012, Jamie’s immense contributions were recognized by the awarding of the Law Society Medal, the highest achievement available in his profession. Not surprisingly, he is routinely named annually as one of the best lawyers in Canada.
In addition to his exemplary work with clients and the legal profession, Jamie has always given his time generously to a long list of noteworthy organizations. He was a board member of Victoria Hospital, culminating with time as chair from 1992-1993. He is the Chancellor Emeritus of the Anglican Diocese of Huron and a past chair of the St. James Westminster Church Foundation.
Jamie and his wife, Janet, have 4 daughters and 9 grandchildren.
