Since it was founded in 1995, Qualicum Beach Streamkeepers and its members have been recognized many times for the work they do. Most recently David James, President of the QB Streamkeepers, was  recognized as the volunteer of the year by the Qualicum Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Local volunteer groups like the QB Streamkeepers are a vital part of environmental protection and restoration. Working with Fisheries biologists, the QB Streamkeepers restore salmon habitat by planting hundreds of trees to provide shade and reduce water temperature, expanding spawning pools, adding gravel and protective boulders,  and stabilizing stream banks to decrease erosion. They also remove invasive species and provide information to the community.

Thank you to all the groups like the QB Streamkeepers who are working every day to protect and restore the environment in such tangible and important ways.
