On Monday, the Township of Grey Highlands unanimously voted to abandon its planned Divisional Court challenge. The Township had originally voted to seek judicial review of an Ontario Energy Board decision, allowing wind power developer International Power Corporation to run transmission lines along municipal road allowances. The Ontario Energy Board ruled that the Township’s argument was completely without merit, and seriously considered ordering the township to pay the wind developer’s legal costs.
The Township had previously rejected an offer from IPC to pay $50,000 a year for 20 years for permission to run the lines.
