Samy practices at our affiliate office Siskinds, Desmeules in Montreal.
Samy graduated from the faculty of law of the Université de Montréal were he obtained an LL. B. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 2003.
During his Bar studies, Samy worked for the Automobile protection association (APA) where he gained valuable experience in consumer rights and class actions. Samy went on to article and work for five years at Sylvestre Fafard Painchaud, a specialized class action firm in Montreal. From 2009 to 2012, Samy was the Director and legal counsel of the Fonds d’aide aux recours collectifs, a government fund dedicated to financing class actions in the province of Québec. He joined Siskinds in July 2012.
Samy’s practice is mainly focused on class actions. He has successfully acted on behalf of members in several areas of law including the environment, consumer’s rights, securities and competition law. The diversity of his experience in the field of class action is unique and has allowed him to be involved in many high profile cases.
Samy is currently a member of the plaintiff’s prosecuting team in several securities class actions, namely SNC-Lavalin, Poseidon Concepts Corp., National Bank of Canada, Agnico-Eagle Mines Limited and Sino-Forest Corporation.
