Friends of Wind public meeting

On July 26, about 90 people gathered in Clinton, Ontario, for an enthusiastic public meeting of the Friends of Wind, a group of volunteers dedicated to counteracting “anti-wind” advocacy. One of the goals of Friends of Wind is to encourage community groups to develop and operate their own renewable energy projects, perhaps on the cooperative model pioneered by Windshare. More meetings are planned around Ontario. Here is a copy of my presentation from that meeting, on Renewable energy approvals, July 2011.

Meanwhile, the Ontario Power Authority has offered FIT contract holders the right to have OPA waive its power to cancel their contracts. This reduces the risk that the contracts would be cancelled if there is a change of government this fall, and encourages investment in Ontario green energy projects, including wind.
