Siskinds LLP and Sotos LLP filed a proposed class action against Fiat Chrysler, Bosch and FCA dealers alleging that illegal defeat devices were installed in Dodge RAM 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles model years 2014-2016.
On Janurary 16, 2017, Siskinds’ Quebec-based affiliate, Siskinds Desmeules, also filed a similar action on behalf of Quebec residents.
Developments
Ontario Action
The action was dismissed by the Ontario Court on August 2, 2023. The Court ordered that an email be sent to all persons who registered for updates regarding this proceeding. Please click here to view the Order.
As this class action will not be proceeding, you may wish to pursue your claim against FCA on an individual basis. Please be aware that the limitation period for taking legal action has resumed pursuant to the Class Proceedings Act. Quebec Action
On May 31, 2017, the Superior Court stayed the action to give precedence to the action in Montreal Garage Poirier & Poirier Inc. et al. c. FCA Canada Inc. et FCA US LLC Court file 500-06-000837-175).
