Approvals backlog drops

This week, the Ontario Environmental Industry Association released a report on the severe economic damage Ontario suffers from red tape and delays relating to environmental approvals.
In response, the Ontario Ministry of Environment proudly announced that their approvals backlog has dropped 60%, despite an increase in applications. In part, this has been done by throwing incomplete applications out of the queue, but it is still a significant achievement. According to Doris Dumais, the typical processing time for a comprehensive air approval has now been slashed to 3 months. That makes this a good time for Ontario’s surviving industries to seek one, if they can afford it.
