Administrative Law

Government authorities, tribunals and boards make many decisions affecting how clients conduct business. Our experience in this area helps clients navigate these decisions accordingly.

Our expertise in administrative law includes board and tribunal governance, advocacy before regulatory bodies, and judicial reviews resulting from board and tribunal decisions.

We have defended individuals and corporations against regulatory offences and prosecution from the provincial government. Such situations require careful consideration of fines levied, due diligence defenses available and possible Charter rights infringements.
We negotiate settlement agreements with Crown prosecutors to have fines reduced and certain charges withdrawn. When settlement is not an option, we defend against charges at trial.
We have appeared before numerous boards and tribunals, including the Ontario Municipal Board, License Appeal Tribunal, and Landlord and Tenant Board.

In addition to advising on administrative commissions, boards and tribunals, we also handle related matters including privacy, employment and labour, and municipal law.
