John Kennedy is a partner with the Siskinds business law group and has extensive experience in both corporate commercial law and commercial real estate. He received an HBA from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario and his LL.B from the University of Toronto. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1977.

Mr. Kennedy’s business practice includes commercial transactions, shareholder and partnership arrangements and disputes, financings, acquisitions and corporate reorganizations. He acts for and provides strategic advice to a broad range of business clients. As well, he represents developers, owners, institutions, landlords and tenants in commercial realty matters. His commercial real estate practice includes land assembly and acquisition, development, construction, leasing and sales. He has a particular interest in the agricultural sector and has been recognized as a specialist in the agri-food industry in the Lexpert Guide to the Top 100 Industry Specialists in Canada.

His experience and knowledge in a wide range of areas of business and real estate law are assets to clients who require timely input on day-to-day business decisions and negotiations during major transactions. As well as practicing law, John is an active participant in the community and has taken a leadership role in local and national organizations.

• Terra International (Canada) Inc., in a long term lease and operating agreement for a 1005 MW generating facility and for an ammonia pipeline to an OPG facility
• Union Gas Limited in the acquisition and disposition of land for numerous operating facilities
• Canadian counsel to Land O’Lakes Inc. in a $100M divestiture
• Genesus Inc., a swine genetics company, in the drafting of IP contracts with corporations in China, Russia and the Czech Republic
• London District Catholic School Board, in the acquisition and development of sites for elementary and high schools
• Numerous commercial landlords and tenants in connection with the drafting and negotiation of shopping centre leases
• Agronomy Company of Canada Ltd., in ongoing matters related to the operation of a franchised agricultural supply system
