Alec graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1982 and received his LL.M from Cambridge University in the United Kingdom in 1985. While at Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge, he was awarded the Fitzwilliam College Prize and the Senior Scholarship. He was called to the Bar of Alberta in 1983 and the Bar of Ontario in 1988.
Alec joined our Business Law Group in March 2006. Prior to joining the Siskinds team, he was a Partner in the national law firm of McCarthy Tétrault LLP and a founder of its office in London, Ontario, where he practised for 17 years. Alec began his legal career with Macleod Dixon LLP, one of the leading firms in Calgary, Alberta, practising there for five years.
Alec specializes in the areas of corporate and commercial law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, energy-related matters and corporate reorganizations. He also provides counsel to business clients with respect to their day-to-day commercial needs, including advising them in the areas of:

- foreign investment

- sales and distribution
- secured transactions
- shareholder agreements
Alec is married and has four sons.
